Get to know the Stretch Grads!

As we’re a family run business, we like to keep the grads a part of our ever expanding crew.
Our training and mentoring doesn’t stop once you’ve graduated, we have regular workshops aimed for teachers looking to deepen their understanding, be it on a philosophical level, or getting down to the nitty gritty anatomical stuff! We also co-host Pregnancy, Embodied Yoga & 500HR YTT’s.

Below are some of our ‘extended fam’, if you have any questions you think would be better aimed at a graduate of our programme, simply email us and tell us who you want to ask!

"I signed up to the Stretch teacher training as a personal challenge and to learn a new skill after my physical practice started to play a bigger part in my life. Carl and Calli are amazing teachers and I've continued to practice regularly with them since. Stretch opened my eyes to more than just mastering asanas on the mat and I think it has changed my whole outlook for the better. I'm really enjoying taking my teaching out into the world and with their ongoing support it's the start of a really exciting journey. I teach accessible, imaginative flows for all levels and encourage students to tune into their breath and their bodies with curiosity."

"I started yoga to recharge my batteries and give me a break from marathon and triathlon training as well as a stressful job. Very soon I discovered that the breath is an amazing tool to calm the mind and achieve body awareness. In my classes I focus on connecting breath and movement, becoming aware of transitions between postures, and tapping into inner strength."

"Yoga for me was a healing process after finding out I had rheumatoid arthritis, it gave me the strength and confidence to push forward and calm my whirring thoughts! I took the YTT with Stretch to both advance my own practice and gain the skills to teach others. My focus is on strong, intuitive sequencing and slow supple transitions. I'm now teaching in different venues across East London."

"Now one half of London's finest Downward Facing Dolls – my style of yoga is a strong, playful and down to earth vinyasa flow with a focus on alignment. Drawn to different styles of yoga over the years, both for the physical practice and the headspace, I grew intensely curious and hungry to learn more deepening my own practice by studying with Stretch. Now I’m keen to share, to help people improve their own body awareness – connecting better the physical body and the mind, increasing flexibility, stamina and strength, creating space and building balance on a number of levels."

"Doing my YTT with stretch was a life changing experience and it has made me a more confident teacher. Carl is a very knowledgeable teacher and I'm forever grateful for his time, energy and the knowledge he shared. Calli is a total dream by Carl's side and was so helpful in her guidance and love not to mention providing some penny dropping moments when I was working through some inversions! My class are thoughtful movements to get out of your mind and into your body... I'm passionate about the mental health benefits of yoga and using it as a powerful tool to help anxiety and digestive issues. My aim is to instil a sense of calm, positivity and energy in all the yogis who attend my classes"

"I came to yoga as a sideline to my professional dance career to heal injuries. I was drawn to it’s healing movements but fell in love with the spiritual side after spending time practicing in India and Bali. Last year, after seven years of practice and training around the world, I felt called to deepen my practice and began my Teacher Training through Stretch. The training with Frog Lotus has allowed me to combine my unique gifts with music and movement and I'm excited to be sharing my joyful and energetic blend of alignment based, introspective strong flow that is guaranteed to get you leaving the studio bright eyed and bushy tailed!"

My yoga mat has been a comfort zone for self expression and stress release for the last 4 years. Training with FLY and Stretch has been an amazing journey to a safe and grounded self-practice along with acquiring a great amount of knowledge to teach students at all levels. In my classes I try to see people and not the poses, I encourage students to find deep steady breath followed by the feeling of peace and contentment.

"I'm not ashamed to say that my yoga journey started with a Geri Yoga DVD! What began with ex-Spice Girl adoration manifested in a love and appreciation for a physical, spiritual and mental practise that welcomes us all with open arms. My classes focus on alignment, getting strong, and use of the breath to soothe the nervous system and energise flowing sequences. Students can expect to smile, sweat and leave class feeling lighter."

"When I began practicing yoga 10 years ago, it was to improve my flexibility and my strength. But soon I found a deep sense of calm and connection, and I've never looked back. The FLY & Stretch training programme has strengthened my practice in so many ways, both spiritual and physical. I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with others! My goal is for everyone to find their place and grace in my classes, sequencing strong, smooth flows with plenty of options, soundtracked by hypnotic ambient beats."

"I discovered yoga in 2007 and was instantly hooked, drawn to its physical yet nurturing nature. I've been teaching regularly since gaining my YTT. My classes are strong yet calming, focusing on the breath to guide you through your practice, creating a moving meditation. You will leave feeling sweaty yet elated! I hope to continue developing my practice, both as a student and a teacher, and enjoying whatever new opportunities arise. When I'm not teaching yoga, I can be found finessing the pages of ELLE magazine, where I'm Associate Editor."

"Born and bred in London, I started practicing yoga in 2005. The classes became more frequent, quickly evolving into longer meditation and yoga retreats in the UK and abroad. Before long, what had started as a simple method of exercise turned into a passion, an addictive form of escapism and an increasingly strong desire to spread the yoga gospel. My classes are dynamic yet considered, centred on awareness, alignment and creativity."

"My style of yoga teaching encompasses an evolving exploration of physical (and mental) strength, space and energy, which encourages a cultivation of balance on a number of levels. I invite students to engage in a playful, compassionate and alignment based practice. I've a special passion for allowing my students a revitalising break from an overactive mind by harnessing the linking movements (and breath) between poses, and focusing mindful awareness on present moment experience. My classes draw on my breadth of experience to create a sensitive, fun and supportive atmosphere for students to either explore release and letting go, strength and their dynamic edge, or a mixture of both."

"Since graduating from FLY I've also completed a Yin teacher training course have started to explore - in my own practice and the classes I teach - how it can be a great complement to a more yang vinyasa routine. Your body really is a temple and should be treated with love, compassion and respect - my classes try to encourage and nurture every student to find what this means to them."
